So, having Acne just sucks, period. The main culprits of acne are usually hormones and genetics. However, there are few things that you could be doing that are triggering your pimples & breakouts and you don't even know about it. Here's a list for you...
Not changing pillow cases
Your pillow cases are a nest for bacteria, dirt, oils and sweat just from using it daily. Since your face makes direct contact with it, chances are it might be the very reason for your acne. So, you need to wash them and change your pillow cases, every week.
Not eating healthy food
Most research shows that the food you eat impacts not only your face but your overall appearance as well. So food rich in vital nutrients like vitamins, key minerals, omega fatty acids, fish oil, protein and antioxidants will help your skin to look better. Think about it if you eat crap you're gonna get crap.
Not showering post workout
The third thing you could be doing that is causing you breakouts, is not showering immediately after a workout. You see when you work out, your body increases oil production as you're sweating. So the mixture of oils and the germs and bacteria produced in the gym could be causing you breakout. So a tip is to immediately shower after the gym and use some sort of antibacterial soap to prevent that.
Touching your face more often
You're probably doing it right now... stop touching your face. I got a few guys, right? Yeah, you got to stop touching your face. I mean through the day you pick up lot of germs and then you touch your face all over with that dirty hands and then it goes into your pores and that's not what you want. Think about it: What do you do with your hands the whole day? Well almost everything right and how many times do you wash it? Yeah... that's another tip you can wash your hands a little bit more.
Wearing tight clothes
There is a thing called as friction acne and something most people don't know, some people get severe acne breakouts on their back and other body-parts. Usually it's from friction from very tight clothing and the sweat production that occurs because of it.
Most probably this is gym clothing like leggings and stuff like that since it's compressed against the skin and on top of that your sweating. So, don't make a habit of lounging around in your sweaty gym clothes, make sure that as soon as you're done you take them off and throw on some fresh ones.
Not taking care of your skin
You don't need hundreds of products but you do need a basic skin care routine that doesn't take a lot of time and effort. First, you need a good water-soluble cleanser that will clean your face from all that oil and the dirt that you've been picking up throughout the day. When you wake up in the morning, your body has already produced sebum and it produces oil and which blocks your pores, so you need to wash it.
Then after the face wash you'll also need a good moisturizer that will really give your skin what it needs to stay fresher, smoother and hydrated as well but to get a better result, you need a nice exfoliating toner. You got to use it right in between the face wash and moisturizer.
(Steps: 1. face wash 2. exfoliating toner 3. moisturizer). It makes a huge difference because it (exfoliating toner) removes all those dead skin cells that clog your pores and it reduce the pores as well as the redness if you use the right exfoliating toner. So it's very important to use the right skin care products because there's a lot of products out there that're actually very bad for your skin like products having drying ingredients like menthol, denatured alcohol as well as skin aggravating ingredients like peppermint, witch hazel and eucalyptus.
Long Hair
So if you have long hair or some sort of hairstyle where it falls on your face like a fringe, cut your oily hair that's filled with hair styling products which could be clogging your pores, resulting in pimples on your forehead. An easy fix would obviously be to adapt to a shorter hairstyle or pick a hairstyle where the hair is kept away from the face also when you sleep, try to not sleep with your hair on your face.
Not sleeping enough
You got to get more sleep. If you look like dehydrated and kind of dull it's a big sign that you need more sleep. When you sleep your body starts to repair itself more and that includes your face as well. Try to get around 7 to 9 hours of sleep. If you get less than 6 it's definitely gonna affect your appearance.
Oily Frames
This is for people that wear glasses and it's when you wear glasses all the time your frames are perfect to be holding sweat, oil, dead skin cells underneath which could make that area around your frames and face, super oily, which then of course can cause acne. Make sure you clean the frames and wash your face more often, this will avoid any oil buildup.
Stressing up
When you stress, your body creates these hormones like cortisol and that can create pimples and even worse, breakouts. So find ways that will help you to stress less and learn how to cope better with different situations that might give you more stress.
I know there are some lucky dudes, who have the most clear skin even with the minimalist of skin care routines. Unfortunately, we are not amongst 'The God's Favourite', so we got to look after our skin in the long run to have one. Peace.
